Shack Window, 1989

Between B7 and B8, 1989

Note the plywood covering the sewage holding tank, aka "The Shit Tank," near the sewage hookup. After clogging and leaking for years, one day I took the Sawzall and chopped the thing out of the trailer. It weighed about 500 pounds, being completely full of fermenting sewage, and I dragged it out from under the trailer with a rope and let it dry behind the trailer for about 6 months. Eventually, it was light enough for four people to carry it to the dumpster. During this period, Jacques Derrida had just moved into the mansion on the hill overlooking IMW, and I liked to think that he was keeping an eye on the Shit Tank with high-powered binoculars.

Once the Shit Tank was gone, I was free to add a bathroom addition to the rear of the trailer, which I did (using salvaged 1-1/4" plywood formerly used to cover mud holes). Here's a photo of the framing for the toilet, which is still in full effect 15 years later.

In addition to the Shit Tank, B7 came equipped with a water tank, for camping trips. This tank leaked for years and rotted my floor. I removed the tank, took it to the desert, and shot it full of holes.
